Travelling with reduced mobility

At FlixBus, we are committed to making travel accessible to everyone, regardless of mobility needs.

While we strive to accommodate all passengers across our entire network, the level of accessibility available may vary depending on the bus facilities and stop infrastructure on each route - for example, not all stops are wheelchair-accessible, as these are managed by their respective local operators.

The information below will help you understand your options and what steps to take before your journey.

General information about travelling with reduced mobility

FlixBus stands behind its mission to bring green mobility to everyone. We do our best to ensure our partners’ buses are as comfortable and accessible as possible for people with disabilities and limited mobility.

Whether you are travelling with a wheelchair, are dependent on a service animal or are pregnant, we are prepared to accommodate your needs. For additional details, please review the mobility and wheelchair information page.

All partner buses are equipped with a wheelchair lift and can fit two passengers sitting in a wheelchair or mobility scooter.

If your disability or limited mobility allows you to use a standard seat, and you are able to board and alight the bus independently or with the assistance of a travelling companion, you are welcome to book and travel on any line in our network without any prior notification required.

However, if you plan to bring mobility aids such as a wheelchair (stored in the luggage hold), walking aids, or other orthopaedic aids, please review the key deadlines section below.

Your mobility aids can be transported free of charge.

Rides operated in different countries might have differing travel policies and bus configurations. When booking a trip to another country, with an interconnection in that country, we might not be able to offer the possibility to “travel in your wheelchair” (with a wheelchair lift and space in the passenger compartment) throughout the whole trip. This could be because either wheelchair capacities in the passenger compartment are sold out or are not available on certain buses.

If you can board and disembark on your own or with the help of a travel companion, you can travel on all FlixBus lines with your wheelchair. Our driver will stow your collapsible wheelchair or mobility device in the baggage compartment of the bus.

In case there is no wheelchair capacity available on a trip you chose, and if you can board and disembark without assistance, you can search for rides without ticking the “travel in your wheelchair” box on our booking page.

This may offer you more possible trips with interconnections in certain countries.
