Planning a family trip? Here's what you need to do before you travel with children on FlixBus — from booking the right ticket and reserving seats, to making sure you have the correct child seat and understanding the rules for unaccompanied minors.
Please note that some regulations vary by region, so make sure to check the relevant rules for your route.
All children (aged 0-14 years old) travelling within the United Kingdom receive a discount of 25% on the full adult fare for domestic journeys, which is automatically applied to the basket.
In order to receive this discount, it is necessary to present an official ID with photo and date of birth.
Please note that different fares and discounts apply to journeys involving travel outside the UK.
The safety of our little passengers is especially important to us. Therefore, please note the following: Children up to 3 years of age: Whilst it is not a mandatory requirement, we recommend that small children be seated in a suitable child seat. If used, this should be secured during the journey with the seatbelts on the buses. This applies to journeys that remain within the UK only. Children up to 10 years must always be accompanied by an adult. Children between 10 and 15 years old can travel alone with a declaration of consent from their parent or guardian (to be given during booking).
Please understand that our coach drivers cannot provide any supervision for children. Please only send your child alone on a trip if you are sure that your child is capable of managing the trip by himself/herself. Children may only travel alone on domestic routes, without changes and between 6:00 am – 10:00 pm. From the age of 15, children may travel alone without any restrictions. Please just make sure that your child has all of the necessary documentation and identification papers.
Travel from the UK to mainland Europe Children up to the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult when travelling from the UK to mainland Europe. 16 - 17 years old travelling to mainland Europe: If you are booking a ticket for your child to travel on an international journey from the UK to mainland Europe, they will need written consent if they are 16 or 17 years old.
For our younger guests, FlixBus is happy to transport foldable strollers for free. Please inform us at the earliest 48 hours before departure using the contact button below.
Measurements: height + width + depth up to 240 cm. Weight of up to 30 kg.
For journeys in Australia, it is not necessary to inform us in advance that you will be travelling with a foldable stroller.
